A rare photo of the reclusive Michaelsithlord

About

Michaelsithlord is an internet personality primarily focused on playing Sea of Thieves. Most of his content revolves around his expert gameplay, masterfully hitting nearly every shot in 1v1's. His real name is Michael.

The Sithtage Series

The Sithtage series is Michael's most widespread content, and is often referred to as the beating heart of his channel. Among the tens of Sithtage videos are some of his crown jewels, such as Sithtage 2, more commonly known as Sithtage But Good.

Sithtage But Good

By far Michaelsithlord's most well known video is his hit classic "Sithtage But Good", also known as Sithtage 2.

The video shows similar footage to all other Sithtage videos, with Michael taking center stage, showcasing his superb ability to hit shots in Sea of Thieves. However, there is immediately something off about the video, and you can tell it's different from the rest of the Sithtage series (despite being the second one in the series). The editing is strange and goofy. Indeed, this Sithtage is meant to be a comedy. In addition to this, the editing is not done by Michael himself, but by Terry, a good friend of Michael at the time[1].

Below is a list of every gag/joke in the video:

  • Increased profanity
    • The first few seconds of the video are Michael screaming, before being told to "Can you shut the fuck up Michael?" by a player named ADS0UL who then gets shot by Michael after he chuckles.
  • The first funny image to appear in the video
    Strange and funny images
    • Similarly to the insult spoken by ADS0UL, during the first few seconds we see an image of a player with a distorted face, known as Terrance Sr 105. The image is accompanied by a dot-gradient textured speech bubble which infers that Terrance Sr 105 is saying "shut up bitch". The positioning of the image in the bottom left further adds to the strangeness of it
  • Music
    • The music in Sithtage but good is arguably the best and most integral part of the video. The primary song playing during the video is a sped up version of Drake and Lil "Baby's Girls Want Girls". The music itself is pitch shifted, pushed through a compressor, and equalized. The exact speed it's playing at is hypothesized to vary ever so slightly throughout the video, but this has not been confirmed yet.
    • In addition to Girls Want Girls, there's an instrumental version of d-tunes "Pom Pom (Freestyle)" playing on top of it.
    • Between 1:00 and 1:20 there's a mystery track which has not been able to be identified yet. It appears that part, though not all is played at 2x speed. The entire twenty second track ends with an extremely loud noise which resembles a spell being cast. The accompanying sequence is also, at times, sped up and slowed down.
    • It's theorized that there's a fourth track playing over Girls Want Girls and Pom Pom (Freestyle), but evidence of this could not be found. Extraction of such a song would be impossible without advanced techniques.
    • There is a final fifth song which plays at the end of the video, thanking Terry, the editor. This also comes with another dot-gradient speech bubble, saying "the end thanks terry" which is tracked to a player named LargoDust128753.
  • Sound Effects
    • If music is the most important part of Sithtage but good, the sound effects are the second most important. Differentiating between what could be a sound effect and what might not be is difficult given the audible uniqueness of the video. Some are clearly heard such as a child screaming "Oh my goddd!" at 0:49, while others you may not notice until your 5th viewing, like the "top sotta" text to speech which happens only a few moments earlier (which of course plays in parallel with when the top sotta text appearing on screen, before it erratically moves to the bottom left, gaining width)
  • Transitions
    • What many Sithtage But Good viewers don't notice until after several viewings is the transitions, which range from extremely sophisticated to resembling something from a power point presentation. These include but are not limited to: Fluid wipes, electrocuted screen, growing star, simple fade, sliding and splitting blocks, and splatters. Overall it's the transitions which contribute the most to the overall feel and pacing to the piece.
  • Crosshair Text
    • A recurring joke throughout the first half of the video is the fake crosshairs which are included in the form of a letter "X". Initially starting small, they gradually grow bigger and more pointless, at one point becoming hollow. By the end of the video, there's even an instance of them changing into a "Z", as if to indicate the editor accidentally pushed the wrong key.
    • A feature of the crosshair text which adds to the comedy is that they are included seemingly at random. By inspecting the video, it's easy to notice sometimes they're put in place when Michael misses a shot, suggesting to the viewer that they may have been put there to intentionally trick them into thinking Michaelsithlord is better than he truly is. However, they're so poorly edited that it's obvious they were intentionally made to look funny.
    • There are exactly 4 instances of crosshair text, 3 of which are X's and one is Z. The crosshairs are only present for the first 56 seconds of the video.

  1. There is speculation Terry is no longer friends with Michael, though these rumors are unsubstantiated, and are primarily progressed by the deletion of all content on Terry's channel.
